The Progress Energy Leedership Sanford Class of 2009 met for their first session today. They went over some general guidelines (like, don’t leave the room to answer your cell phone every five minutes…Bob hates that), an overview of what to expect this year and did a few exercises to help everyone get to know each other.
(They also went to Yarborough’s for lunch, but failed to bring ice cream sundaes back to the staff who stayed behind.)
Members of the year’s class are:
- Kelly Klug, Lighthouse Documentation and Training, Chamber Ambassador Co-Chairperson
- Thad Morgan, Capital Bank
- Melanie West, Lee County Schools
- Stacey Craft, Lee County YMCA
- Stephon Hall, Lee County Partnership for Children
- Tina Poltrock, Lee County Schools
- Cathy Swindell, Central Carolina Community College
- Zhyra Barber, CCCC Small Business Center
Ouch! We couldn’t let the comment about ice cream go unanswered, could we?!
I hope I can speak for the Leedership Class of ‘09 when I say that we know we have big shoes to fill after the Class of ’08, but I take this little ribbing as incentive to show the Chamber and the community what a great class WE have. We might be small, but we’ll be strong…and we won’t have to resort to bringing back sundaes to prove it!
I’m proud to be a part of this year’s class and look forward to the program.
Kelly Klug
PS. For the record, I believe one staff member was offered the option of ice cream when we left for lunch, and the other one wasn’t “left behind” because she wasn’t in the office at the time! We were just looking out for her. She wouldn’t have wanted to return to a melted ice cream mess on her desk! Yeah, that’s the story and we’re sticking to it.
